Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Note: St. George's has implemented the “Safe Church” standards of The Episcopal Church for all our ministries at St. George’s. These standards are designed to make sure that the church is a place of welcome and safety for all ages, at all times. As part of the Safe Church standards any child/youth that will participate in any program at St. George’s must be registered. You may register your child/youth at the church or online.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori based experience in which the religious values of childhood, primarily those values of contemplation and enjoyment of God, are predominant. This experience is shared in a place particularly prepared for the religious life of children called the Atrium.

At St. George’s our  atrium in rooms 8 & 10 of Randles Hall allows us to offer level 1 catechesis for ages 3-5, level 2 for ages 6-9, and level 3 for ages 10-12. Our Catechists are Deacon Maureen Demler and Mary Golden. Deacon Abby Bee will be trained when a class becomes available as a Catechist.

Catechesis is on Sundays 10:45 -11:45 as part of our Christian Formation offerings.

As we expand our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd classes we need additional specific Catechesis materials. Details are on this web page.

Additional information about this well known program is available on the national website: National Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

You will enjoy this slideshow of photos from our Catechesis classes.

During the COVID 2020 "shelter in place" our Catechists did over several short classes available on our YouTube channel (filmed in our previous atrium). Below is an example video. Or check out the full YouTube playlist!
