Loaves and Fishes is an Episcopal Diocese of Albany feeding ministry based in the kitchen and parish hall of the St. Francis Mission church in Arbor Hill area of Albany. The ministry provides a hot, healthy meal every Saturday from 11:30am to 1pm to the people from this very needy neighborhood.

It is 100% run by volunteers from various churches in the Albany Diocese. Volunteers arrive at the kitchen at 9:00AM - hours before feeding to prepare the food then distribute the meal and clean up. It is eye opening and rewarding.
With many people out of work, the need has increased and so have the people benefiting from this ministry. The ministry is preparing and giving away 500+ meals each Saturday. Come try it out! We start preparation of the meal and space at 9:00AM and usually end around 1:00PM.
For years, individual churches volunteered to be responsible for recruiting people to work on a set Saturday each month. St. George's helped on the fourth Saturday of each month. In spring of 2026 Loaves and Fishes moved to the model of "come when you can"!
Teens 14 and older may come on their own. Older children younger than 14 are welcome provided they come with supervising adult family members.
