St. Francis Loaves and Fishes

COVID-19 Update

Loaves and Fishes continues its feeding ministry with modifications for personal safety and social distancing. Volunteers will wear masks, gloves and maintain appropriate social distancing during meal preparation. The meal will be prepared, packed and provided in “To Go” containers.

With many people out of work, the need has increased and so have the people benefitting from this ministry.

Loaves and Fishes is a feeding ministry based in the kitchen and parish hall of the St. Francis Mission church in Arbor Hill area of Albany. The ministry provides a hot, healthy meal every Saturday from noon to 1pm for 80 - 100 people from a very needy neighborhood.

It is 100% run by volunteers from various churches in the Albany Diocese. Volunteers arrive at the kitchen at 10AM, set the tables, prepare and serve the meal, then clean up. It is eye opening and rewarding.

St. George's is designated as the lead church for the meal on the 4th Saturday of the month.  Come try it out! We start at 10AM and finish around 1:30PM. Contact Kathryn Pellet for more information.

There is also a prayer table ministry from 11:00am to noon outside the church. Prayer is provided for those coming to the meal and those who happen to walk by.

Acoustic, low key Christian music is provided by volunteer musicians during the meal.

If you would like to help with the music or prayer table, speak to Carol MacNaughton.
